Locally Grown: The Cupcake Truck

Keeping it local
We are lucky enough to live in a fabulous burb just outside of New Haven, CT, home of Yale and an ever-amazing culture of vogues, vagabonds and venues.
Where else but New Haven would you find such entrepreneurial spirit as in the folks who brought us the Cupcake Truck?
This mobile sugar-wagon conjures up a fistfull of feel-good; who doesn't love bite sized bits of nostalgia? Apparently, quite a few as the street in front of the refurbished bread truck can line 10 deep with Yale alum and construction laborers alike.
Little wonder - With flavors like Hummingbird (banana, pineapple, coconut & pecans), Chocolate Ruin and Red Velvet how can they miss? Get there early as most days are a sell-out.
The Cupcake Truck even sells frosting "shots" for who can't get enough of that guilty pleasure soaked sugar-rush. They even promise not to divulge your...um, ...habit.
Even more intriguing is the story behind the sprinkles. Marsha Rowe blogs the tale of planning, plotting and dreaming about quitting her job and following her heart. Follow along as she pours out her struggles, fears and ultimate plunge into sole proprietorship from "a perfectly good, steady-paying, high-stress corporate gig and finally take a chance on something totally uncertain yet truly exciting". Something she had been dreaming of and afraid of for more than a decade.
If you're from the area check the blog for a daily listing of flavors and locations - remember they are mobile. For out-of-towners, read the inspiration, sweat and tears behind this tasty team.
